Men's Pennants Results
Sunday 6th May was the final match of the season at Whangaparaoa and our team played some of their best golf of the season, narrowly beating Waitakere.

They finished the season in 3rd place - well done to the team and let's hope next year we can take the title from North Shore. A big thank you to Max for all your hard work this year in organising the Pennants team.

Updates on the Course

Our winter work program has begun. We have started addressing a number of uncontrolled rough areas overrun with Kikuyu and Paspalum, which will hopefully result in fewer lost balls! We will also look to start broadleaf weed control in the cut rough soon.

Verti- Draining
This week we will continue verti-draining the fairways as the weekend downpours halted our progress. We aim to finish this week so we can move on to approaches next week.

Flower beds
You may have noticed the new flower garden outside the
Pro shop. We have planted a combination of perennial and annual flowering plants to provide some colour around the Club House.

We are looking to establish a nursery this winter so to have continuous flowering plants year-round for the gardens. We are on the lookout for some plant cell punnets for this if anyone has any lying around the garden. If you do then please contact Ryan our Superintendent.

The US Kids Trans- Tasman Cup

The Trans -Tasman Cup is an invitational event which brings together the best players from Australia and New Zealand. The top 2 players aged between 5 and 14, from each age division, nationally, from the U.S Kids Golf Summer Tour in Australia and New Zealand are invited to play and represent their country.

This weekend we witnessed some inspiring team efforts, competition and most importantly the creation of great friendships between players from both sides of the “ditch”. Team New Zealand put on a strong display and won the 2-day competition at Gulf Harbour.

This is the last week of our Summer sale!

Pros Tips for How to Play the 12th Hole

From the tee, you are faced with an elevated shot down to the fairway below. Here are some of our top tips:
  • Layup short of the fairway bunker which is 185 metres from the Blue Tee
  • Don't hit your 2nd shot too hard - it may spin back of the false front
  • Put a little bit more weight on your front foot when hitting into the green
  • Play for the centre of the green and avoid the sucker pin
Good luck!
Check out the top 5 shots of the week from the 2018 Wells Fargo Championship, featuring Jason Dufner, Peter Malnati, Rickie Fowler, Johnson Wagner and Jason Day.
It is well worth subscribing to the PGA YouTube channel to stay up to date with play this winter.
